On Behalf of Nature presents different ways of portraying the landscape and nature through modern art techniques. It highlights a theme that is becoming more and more timely: the complex and contradictory relationship between humans and the environment. Viewing these works can make us think about what we can and should do on behalf of nature.
The Heino Art Foundation's collection is one of the most important contemporary art collections in Finland. Commercial counselor Raimo Heino, Mrs. Raini Heino, and their son Rauli Heino, gallerist and art historian, assembled the collection. The art collection was based on the Heino family's acquisitions and personal tastes. Their motivation lay in their passion for love of art. The Heinos primarily view art as a kind of spiritual capital rather than an investment.
The exhibition is curated by Mari Lehtosalo and jointly produced by the Kouvola Art Museum Poikilo and the Heino Art Foundation.
